Your body is a giant juicing machine that extracts nutrients from the foods you eat. But it can’t function well without the proper probiotics in your gut.
Podcast Transcript: “I don’t know if you’ve ever thought about your body as a giant juicing machine. It’s a giant juice extractor from the food that you eat. And what’s it trying to get out of the foods that you eat? If you think about it, the big categories are of course for energy: unique carbohydrates and sugars. You need a certain amount of protein which are very big molecules, long molecules. You need lipids or fats for many different biological functions. You need minerals, which are catalysts for enzymatic reactions and biological functions. But then you also need the phytochemicals or the phytonutrients also called plant-based nutrients. These are things like curcumin, found in various fruits or pigments in plants – all of which are medicinal in various ways. Now these are typically, well some of them, are medium-sized molecules.
